Lug pattern converting question~

My friend has a 64 Datson 320NL...  he re-did the front to be 5 lug from the normal 6, and he wants to do the rear...  What needs to be done?  Would you have to replace the whole axel with something that is 5, or change just a few parts?????

I would probably have the stock stuff re drilled on that one. If you do an axle swap it will have to be narrowed, no matter what it is. Those things are like 50-52 inches if I remember right. I don't know of anything 5 lug that came that narrow off the top of my head.

Yeah, you will have to pull the axles out of the rear end but a good machine shop should be able to do it. They will have to weld up at least some of the original stud holes so that the new holes don't interfere with the original holes. Will also have to re-drill the drums to match of course.
