yea, the tach just detects that the engine is started so it stops cranking... with a carb engine, you usually have to pump the gas to get it going... so doesnt it crank for a long time whiles remote starting? cant that kill ur starter?

If your having to pump the gas pedal then something isnt right with the carb/fuel pump. I had a carbed small block in my dime, Before i went to an electric pump get in and turn the key and after maybe 2 revolutions it was running. now the electric fuel pump was diffrent had to prime the pump then shut the pump off crnk it turn the pump back on.

We installed them on carbureted cars when I worked at Car Toys. We would use a solenoid/actuator on the gas throttle cable with a pulse timer and set the alarm to crank a second or two longer. Most cases it didnt work very well and would have to be adjusted once or twice a year depending on the weather, but we had cold winters up there....

Something is wrong with your carb if you have to pump the gas to get it going. My 79 El Camino had that problem, a simple rebuild with new floats and it started right up.

I have remote start on my carbed 77 F100. I don't have any kind of actuator or anything on my throttle to pump it so it won't start it if it has been sitting for a few days. But if I drive it to the store or whatever then come back out it starts everytime. I got mine from summit. I can't remember the brand off the top of my head, been a couple of years, but it's basically the same as the bulldog brand remote start.
