hydraulics!!!

so im about 99.9% sure im changing some plans and im gonna juice my 91 ranger...im new to hydraulics so i was wondering if anyone had any good tips for me...i wish i could afford the hydroholics stuff but since i cant im probably gonna go with a pro hopper setup....if anyone has any extra tips, pics or things they might wanna sell or a place they reccomend to buy id appreciate it.

and another question i have that i forgot to mention in the original post is, whats the truth about accumulators....ive heard they are great and really help with ride quality but ive also heard that they will wear out the cylinders faster thus creating more maintenance....what about using airbags under the cylinders to adjust ride stiffness because if i just put a schrader valve on each bag i can test different air pressures and see which pressure i like best and then just leave it set at that, i already have bags i could use so that would financially work great for me.

Hydroholics stuff does seem expensive...but Take your basic prohopper kit.  Add upgraded check valves (a must), leak free slow down valves (a must), parker accumulators, their triple sealed competition cylinders (must), carling switches, "good" leak-free fittings (must), and you'll find that a Hydroholics setup is actually cheaper - with a lot better service. 

Also just another point to back up hydroholics, the ability to adjust the cylinders because they are threaded is great. If I hadn't purchased a used kit local I deffinetly would have gone to hydroholics. You can either spend the money once or keep upgrading and spend more in the end. I am sure that my checkvalves and slow downs on my used kit are crap, so in the end I will have to upgrade and spend more in maintenance then I would have if I had just purchased everything new.

i have a few tips....... get the setup you will not regret it ......  if its in a truck (which it is) go with the Auto Zone deep cycle marine batteries less expensive work just as good hold a charge for a long time and its less than 300.00 bucks for 3 of them.... with a small truck you might get away with 2 but i like 36 volt ....  dont skimp out on the little items.....  upgraded check valves (a must), leak free slow down valves (a must), parker accumulators (a must), carling switches, "good" leak-free fittings (a must),  Hydroholics setup is totally cheaper - with a lot better customer service, they answer phones and e mails and texts (if you spend  enough money you get a direct line... JK)  i just "JUICED" a Acura TL its my daily driver and last June i "Juiced" my project truck both with equipment..... COMPARE "APPLES TO APPLES" make sure the setups are the "SAME" ......  good luck in your choice.

^^^ Nice TL brotha! I agree, I have a used kit, and if I do another "from scratch" build its going with the hydrohaulics guys.  Heres why you need to use them. Try getting ahold of ANYONE from ANY of the other companies after 5. Business hours is bad enough.I can send an e-mail to one of the hydrohaulics guys at 7, and have an answer before 8. They're just on top of it! The other companies even CCE are more geared towards the hoppers and traditional low-lows... It takes 4-5 hours to get a response from CCE on tech support questions.   If your starting out and know nothing, the tech support alone is reason enough to use them.   GL with your truck. Oh and accumulators are genius. I'm not even running springs on the front of my hilux and it rides like a dream.

trust me, if i had an extra thousand bucks id be going with there stuff without a question in my mind...but considering i can get a full kit from pro hopper for around 1000 bucks( without batteries even though im thinking only 2 of em) its hard to spend 1500  for a 2 pump 4 dump setup n then if i add accumulators im lookin at 1900 with HH...but i could use air bags with a pro hopper setup correct? i know theres gonna be small things here and there ill need but i have a friend here thats been in the scene for probably around 10-15 years and has been a machinist for 13 years so ill be getting help from him considering all he runs and all he recommends is hydraulics instead of air ride....i also heard from another person that the hydroholics pumps are basically pro hopper anyways, how true is that?

maybe someone from hydroholics can help me out with a price....if i was to buy your 2 pump 4 dump setup, how much would i save if i got the kit without the  hose, fittings switch cord, return hoses and 6 prong switches....and maybe the solenoids...

There is a complete price list on www.hydroholics.net You can add up the parts you want or don't want by that list. The kits are sold with or without accums. Do the bag thing if you want, but keep in mind you will want to fill them with nitrogen and make sure they never ever leak, or you will be constantly fooling around with the bags. If you get accums you will never have to touch them.  We use a triple seal with polypack in our cylinders... standard! You can go over 2 years on a daily driven vehicle without changing them.If you go with that $899 or whatever it is from prohopper you will be shorting yourself on a lot of stuff that the Hydroholics kits come with standard. We don't even carry the "cheap" stuff. Prohopper packs thier kits with the minimums. Will it work, sure, but you will find yourself replacing stuff sooner than you think. Thier kit will come with basic cylinders (no polypack and only 2 seals), check valves that are no more than a 3/8" staright fitting with a ball and spring in side it, slow downs that will start to leak in about a month, nevermind the cheapo fittings that bottom out when they are supposed to taper tight, non bearing end caps on the motor, ect ect ect.  I have nothing against Prohopper, in fact, that is all I use to install before Hydroholics. They sell great stuff, but it doesn't come with thier kits. Like Derek already said if you want to have a reliable setup you need to get the "must" items. By the time you do that with prohopper products you will be spending more than if you would have gone with Hydroholics.

if i went through pro hopper i was gonna upgrade to the triple seal cylinders, which is cool that its standard with u guys.  mu buddy was going to machine me some cups, donuts and some other things i dont remember haha so he said i should be able to take all that fab stuff outta there kit and save some more money to upgrade equipment...what exactly is  polypack? and i was gonna get fittings and hose from a local shop that sells fittings....im gonna look into exactly what it would cost to upgrade to those "must have" items and if it really turns out to be more then i may have to rethink hydraulics again  haha....id like to do it but it seems like it just costs too damn much. when i priced up the individual parts on the HH website it still ended up being 1500 without alot of things the kit comes with so i might as well get the kit lol...the only reason i really decided to finally switch to hydraulics is because my friends has run it for years from prohopper without any problems and he said i could get everything even with upgraded parts and him machining a few things for me for about 1200 excluding batteries....but its sounding now like its gonna be more around 2000
