let me start out by saying that i know this is in the wrong section, but the video section was everyone selling dvd's & it doesn't fit in the photography section so feel free to move it if you feel necessary (plus i'd get more resopnses here lol )

well, anyway last year i bought my wife a kodak 8.1 mp camera that does high def video.  it's nothing super fancy like what you guys use, but it's great for her.  i've been unsucessful in finding a way to burn the dvd's (mostly short clips of the kids doing something cute etc) so i'm sure there's many of you "tech types" on here.

after getting a million errors with nero & the windows media player just trying to burn them, i recently bought the roxio creator 2010 & i can finally put the stuff on a disc, but then nothing will play it.  do i need to have a high definition dvd player on my home entertainment center?  is that my problem or is it the program i bought?

thanks in advance & sorry again for putting this in the MT general...

no matter how you author it (wether it is SD HD Or BD) if you burn it to a standard DVD it will only display standard definition, 480 lines.

I author everything in HD but we burn it to a DVD, so it only displays standard definition. Im not good with windows or PC but if you want anything higher than 480 lines you need to get software that will author it in HD and get an HD DVD burner or BLUERAY burner.

Remember that technically anything more than 480 lines of resolution is considered HD. The camera you have should shoot 1080i, so try to get it authored for Blueray because although you can burn that 1080i onto an HD DVD it will just play as 720p. I know some HD DVD players dont support 1080i and most (if not any) support 1080p.

That is if you are wanting it in HD, which I am assuming you are. Sounds like the software you are working with is not liking the HD. And it also depends on how you are capturing it onto your computer from your camera (file type)
