Who has put 00+ 2 bulb tails on a pre 99 ranger with 3 bulbs? I have tried all wiring possibilities that I have found researching it online and cant get all the functions to work properly! If you have done this successfully let me know how you did it. And is there a way to do it and not have to leave the third bulb plugged in behind the taillight? I have tried this way and it seems as if the turn signal bulbs are lighting dimly unless you put your foot on the brake then they get brighter....http://www.fordrangerforum.com/how-submissions/4072-how-convert-3-bulb-tails-2-bulb-set-up.html

you can use a trailer converter to convert form 3 bulb to 2 bulb . u haul and most suto part stores sell them they include a converter box you will just be using it in reverse but it should stil work

thats exactly what you need to do, get a trailer convertor to convert it to the 2bulb setup.

already tried that but only half the functions work right, thinking about just running turn signals in the reverse spot and not having reverse lights.

did you try using a 2000+ harness? or drill a hole and add the blinker in the top section since that is were its supposed to go.

just went and looked at my ranger looks like i used two 3157 bulb sockets each one has 3 wires.. bottom of taillight is park and brake top part i ran turn to one wire and reverse to the other wire i ran sylvania yellow bulbs my back up lights are yellow but who cares i have yellow blinkers hope it helps if you still cant figure it out i can take a pic and send it to you

Ahh Ha! I figured it out after comparing some wiring diagrams from my 92 (which uses a 2 bulb setup like the newer ones do) to my 94. All the wiring is the same and they use the same multi-function switch, except the green brake light wire runs all the way to the brake bulbs on the 94 and the green brake light wire runs into the mulit-function switch on the 92 (where the 94 has an empty terminal on it) So I ran the green brake light wire to the empty terminal and swaped the turn signal socket wires to the green brake light wires on the sockets and cut off the turn signal sockets and whaaa-laa! Everything works perfect off of two bulbs now! Thanks for all the input though!

--------------------------------------------- I would but its kinda pointless to do all the write up when it only applies to 93-94, 95-99 are a different set up.
