Apparently the previous owner who set up the air ride on my Dakota originally set up the notch for the 18's and not laying out... I need to raise the upper bag mount 2" to lay out in the rear of my truck, which will put the axle a hair below the c-notch.. I may as well set it up for success and get it ready for 20's, but question is, what is the best way to redo the C-notch without having to do a whole new back half?   I was thinking of just measuring about 20 times or so, ha, or even welding an outer loop to connect the front to back, cutting out the C-notch, welding new one in, and then removing that outer loop... Let me know.

So will it lay 20s with the current notch? As long as you can set the bags up to be fully collapsed when the truck is laid out flat and the axle don't touch the notch you should be good. Or are you trying to avoid doing that bracket design that you sent me? And not have the tops of the bag brackets higher than the notches? I would say do some 2x3 3/16" wall and go from in front of the notches to behind but for all that you might as well just do it clean with a partial backhalf.

I would most likely brace the front to back and cut out the current notch and install a new one.  Possibly do one side at a time so that there is less chance of something shifting around.

---------------------------------------------I would be able to lay out on my 18's with like 1/4" or less of room between the axle and notch... That's with doing that bracket I talked to you about, which will most likely be hte way I go. If I do anything bigger as far as wheels/tire size, I won't lay out with that new upper mount, the notch would sit on the axle.
