yes check the oil

Check it once monthly, when they are new, they eat up oil so be careful if you have been driving it

how do i check it and how much do i add

there should be a 9/16 (i think) bolt in the left side of the block you can unscrew and make a lil dipstick to check the level. i think a 1/4 or 1/2 qrt is recommended. just dont let it run out of oil... i can hear a difference in the sound of mine when it needs to be topped off

i do this, what ever i drain out of the trap is what i add. if its 3 oz, thats what goes in.

I ran my drain back into the compressor. I just open the valve and the air pressure pushes the fluid back in. Kilby enterprise sells a kit. Thats where I got the idea.

They take 14oz of oil, never let it get lower then 6oz.  I wouldn't recommend recycling the oil that gets in the trap, that shit is nasty and smells like shit so I am pretty sure its not very good for the comp. For instructions on how to make a dipstick, here they are straight from the service manual for yorks. Just use a wire hanger.
