my stock floored dime is in ned of a spray in bed liner. Prob is every place i've talked to still wants to charge like $400 to do it. Why? its about half the size of a stock bed. The bed floor is raised up so its like 3" deep and flat with some wheel tubs lol. Anyway, my ? is.,...has anyone used the " do it yourself " kits like herculiner or dupli color? if so how has it turned out?

I used the Herculiner for the inside of my cab for sound deadner and it worked pretty well but I don't think you would be happy with it in your bed. It doesn't look that great and it's a pain to roll it out. I had my bed sheetmetaled and paid 4 times what I should have from Line-X to have it color matched. They added in A LOT of fees and unnecessary charges that drove the bill higher and higher...

I used Hippo-liner tintable kit on mine with color matched color was about 60 a kit, you then get pure basecoat from your supply house 6oz worth roughly.    I did basecoat/clearcoat mine after to get more of a shine and easy clear up. Great stuff for sure. Could not find the bed pictures, but the underhood was done the sameway with the do it yourself Tintable Hippo kit, I did however prep properly after and basecoat/clearcoated it so it cleans off easily without leaving stains like most bedliners.

The gallon kits from autozone, advance, walmart etc  is a roll on type and doesnt get the build up of a spray in. If you want a cheap inexpensive way to do it get a couple gallons and go to town but if you want it to cover imperfections your gonna have to get it sprayed. O and if you do it yourself prep the bed really good or the roll in will pop off in a few months. Hope this helps

I do spray ins...i used U-POL Raptor liner and have had no trouble outta them..good spray ins aren't cheap and usually if they are they aren't worth the money..the above is right tho..the better its prepped the longer itll last..ill help where i can..i did a color matched liner in my dime and everything under the hood and ive very satisfied with the quality

SEM makes a spray in that we use ot our bodyshop and its tintable and has good build.  we charge 250 for just the bed.  try checking at some bodyshops in your area to see if they can do it cheaper than what youve been quoted from line-x.

u get what you pay for, but $400 for a bed thats damn near 1/2 the size of reg bed is silly. now if someone said $250-$300 i'd agree, that makes sense. They charge normally $450 or so for reg 6 ft bed. Just kills me how they rape you for this stuff. I work for O'Reilly's i can get the herculiner or dupli color but i want the look. We even sell the sprayer to use for your air compressor. You guys that used the tintable stuff, my truck is black so i dont need tinting but what did u use to spray it? reg paint gun or what? the sprayer we offer is almost like a blow gun looking deal with a big nozzle that the liner sprays from.

If you want the Line X look it sounds like you have already decided for yourself, time to pony up the dough and get the line X. The price is rough but what can you do? If its going to break you just save up a bit longer before you get it done. Goog luck with it and post some pix when its done.

we use an old pot style spray gun with the tip drilled out so it will texture up.  makes a hell of a mess but it works good. and the SEM stuff i was talkin about comes grey so it has to be tinted unless u want it the color of primer.
