so im used to pulling trailers, but i recently had an issue id like some input on...i normally pull trailers without trailer brakes which has never been an issue but i recently pulled one with trailer brakes and everytime i even tapped my brakes on my truck the trailer tires locked up immediately...how do i fix this? i had to unplug the wiring on the trailer which also left me without lights which is one thing i dont like...i was once told that i could pull a particular fuse in my truck which will disengage the trailer brakes but ill still have lights....is that true? and where is it if it is true? i have a 2004 chevy 2500hd...its too bad i cant find a trailer for a good deal so i could stop borrowing or renting trailers

were you using the trailer brake controller? if so it just needed turned down. i usually have mine at around 3 and when it is empty its at 1.5. check your manual for the fuse that says electric brakes and pull it out. i had to check a few of my fuses last week since i blew the running lights fuse for the trailer and i still had all my other lights and electric brakes working.
