I am trying to put together a game plan for getting my dad's truck on the road. It is a '58 gmc step side longbed. I would like to get a decent sized rim on it and install bags.

Most likely the bags will come after the rims so I was wondering if anyone has worked on one of these, or similar, and could tell me what is the biggest rim/tire combo that can fit layed out. I do not want to have to do major fender modification if possible.

If you have some photos of chevys or gmcs with bigger rims layed out I would love to see them. Even better if it is a longbed... right now the bed is off the truck and I am dying to see it with the bed on to decide if shortening the bed would look better.

Thanks!

Most likely I will keep the longbed for that reason (everybody builds shortbeds), and this was my great grandpas truck and me and my dad were building it up until his passing in february.

I would like to put a little of my own touch on it so that is why I am looking to find out what size rim will fit - I would like a 20 or maybe 22...hard to visualize what it would look like with bigger rims.

btw, your truck is sick. I like the old school look.

I searched all over and I seem to keep coming up with an 18/20 combo on this type of truck. Does anyone have pics of these laid out. I found this one from an issue of sport truck mag and I like the overall look but was thinking a 20/20 combo would look better.

Is that possible to get enough lift to clear the 20s?

Thanks,
