question for the gurus.....

I am thinking about buying a 1985 toyota sr5 xtra cab turbo. I can get a pretty good deal on it and its bone stock. still has the factory radio.
truck has power windows/locks/cruise/sunroof/working ac. automatic w/ overdrive button and power button? Im gonna be driving it back and forth to work and doing some stuff to it along the way. Is a 25 year old turbo somewhat reliable? would it be a bitch or really expensive to get parts for?

I was thinking of doing a stock turbo on my yota with all junkyard parts for the time being.  I know that there are lots or RET's out here in junkyards and i was told you can get new turbos anywhere. Maybe go look around the yards in your area and see what you can find or see if your local parts store carries any of the parts..

there are plenty of parts for it, the automatic transmissions are dogs! what is the price on it and i can tell you if it is a good deal or not.

i should be able to get it for 1000. but the 25 year old turbo worried me a little. but i love these trucks. what do you meen about the automatics?do you know of any 1000 drivers around your area cookie?

you might want to pm radar on here, hes had a couple of them and one was a daily driver for a number of years

$1000 buy it and if you dont like it i will  buy it from you guarnteed.  the autos make them sluggish and slow. the motors are solid and the turbos are so low boost that it doesnt much put any strain on the motor.  BUY IT!
