What kind of sealant is everyone using after they paint the inside of the housings on headlights and taillights? I need some kind of sealant that will hold up and won't be visible on clear lenses once they are installed. Thanks!

Pictures are helpful

Butyl is typically used by the OEM's although it is black, silicone is not good as the acids in it can eat away at paint even if they do not touch as the fumes contain the acidid properties as well.  Neutral cure silicone has no acids, but being silicone it will stick to everything and cannot be removed, also silicone and butyl do not bond together.  I would use what was on there in the first place.

Thanks for the info! I found this on a google search for butyl sealant.

Anyone else use something similar?

That type of butyl is very stringy and gooey, it is hard to work with.  I mean more of a 440 - 1/16" x 3.8 tape type butyl.  Most any glass shop should stock it.
