Recently my friend purchased a kit from ebay that was supposed to contain all the components from a factory blazer disc brake set-up. Well quickly we find out the person that sound the kit sold my friend two left side axle mounts. Well we didn’t think exactly a staggered caliper look would lock right, come on we are mini-truckers not rednecks with 1980 camaros (just joking if you’re the redneck with the 1980 camaro). After quickly realizing this mount wasn’t going to be a common item we run to our local gm dealer to find out the mounts are $92 per side. As everyone knows the budget is normally not enough to absorb $92 speed bumps.

At this point my engineering sense took over, to find an alternate solution. The solution was a weld on bracket that eliminated the need for the axle mount bracket. I realize that many people desire rear disc brakes or even big brakes but budgets never permit. This where I would be willing to step in with a solution that permits a cheaper option.

At this moment there is two available options

 First being for: S10’s

What would be required for a factory style system:

·         A set of s10 loaded calipers (one option to lower cost would be to get them from a junkyard)

·         New rear blazer rotors & pads

·         My adapter brackets (roughly the price will be $50 for the pair)

o   On a side note this kit will not have the provision for the factory emergency brake but realistically they never held up and if you lay frame that’s a better emergency brake.

Second being for S10’s and probably other gm 10 bolts

This option is a big brake system which will require a minimum wheels size

·         11.75” rotors from a stingray corvette

·         4 piston wildwood dynalite calipers and pads

·         My adapter brackets (roughly priced at $50 for the pair)

Both options with all brand new parts should cost around $500 dollars, but the price could less depending on sales and if you use junkyard parts.

This is the point I ask is anyone interested. Also I will continue to expand as time goes on.

I would have no problem doing one for a ranger. I am an equal opportunity offender. Why are you in need of one?

I never seen little shop of horrors kit, its a pretty nice kit. I did some more researching today, my mounts to put together a big brake kit wouldnt cost much more. The wilwood calipers, pads, and the rotors would come to a total $385.48. Add the additional $50 for my weld on mounts and it would bring the total up $435.48. Yes that doesnt include brake lines but many people have different approaches to brake lines some want dot steel braided, some dont care if there dot steel braided, while some perfer rubber. But I have yet to see a big brake kit that costs that little. Maybe I am wrong. Also with the big brake kit I can do a bolt on kit. Those brackets would probably run between $65-$70 to cover the extra material.

I am that friend that was screwed over in the ebay deal, the brackets that lunatiksblazer made so that I can still use the blazer calipers, rotors, and brake pads that i bought are no joke. The quality and the precision is very high. Also i have looked at the kit that lil shop is selling and i think that it is very nice and looks very good, but in my opinion the blazer calipers look better and the brackets lunatiksblazer made are very simple and clean looking without the bolt on look. yea they will take a lil more work because you have to weld them on and should remove the the existing brake mount but in the end it will look like a cleaner installation, and it is custom work, since minitruckers are obsessed with having everything customized.  Also the weld on brackets give the option of positioning your calipers ayway you may see fit. Once again this is my opinion and we all have our own.

I have seen some of the best ideas designed by Allen over the years.  I sure hope I can see some of his ideas put to work some day.  Keep it up and good luck.
