tell me. is it worth it?

im lookin at a 1999 gmc yukon. its basicaly a friend needs help with money. thing is i have to take a loan out on the truck since all my money is tied up in investments. i dont have a problem paying for it i just want to know if its the right decision? its a 99, 4 door, 2wd, power everything, 5.7 vortech with 139k miles on it and just had the heads completly re done. the truck is fairly clean, no dents. front doors sag witch is just door pins and bushings. it has brand new vision wheel 24s and p-zero 275/35/24 tires. it also has all jl componets, 3 13 w3 jl subs in a ported box, jl 1000/ amp and a jl 600 watt powering the highs also the top of the line eclipse audio only deck. i dont deal much with gas motors as most stuff ive owned has been diesel or brand new gasers. my plans would be to just bag it. lay it on 24's and drive it while im doing a full build on my dually. then maybe sale it. would it be reliable motor wise to drive on long trips? i dont drive any of my pearsonal vehicles on weekdays. just weekends but its normaly 100+ miles a weekend.

Dad ownes 97 Tahoe with 5.7 vortec. Has 300k and has only has heads, injectors, and intake replaced. IMO if it was taken care (oil changed reg., ect.) of you shouldn't have any problems.

...."would it be reliable motor wise to drive on long trips?..."   the small block chevy motor that has been around since like 1960?? is that what your asking? is the motor able to drive long distances?   or are you asking is it worth it to buy a yukon?   i have a 99 pukon, 120k miles.  gets poo for gas mileage.  motor has never been apart, trans has never been apart, rear end needed new bearings/ring gear.   my pukon is stock tan leather interior, four door, 4x4, on 20s, with custom paint.  pics are on my profile. if i could get 4k for it the way it sits, id probably sell it.  but there is no way in this economy id get 4k.   so besides your friends yukon having JL woofers, yours and mine are the same.      mine is custom painted, no dings, no dents, no scratches, full color change, graphics through all the jambs, and like i said id be lucky to get 4k for it.     so my point is, mine is probably nicer then his, and mine is a 4wd, menaing its worth more also, and if i cant get 4k for it, use that as an idea of whatever price your friend is asking for his, and that might make up your mind....?    

Forget getting a loan on a 11 year old truck.

im more or less asking if its worth paying 5,000 for. i know what they system and wheels cost becuase he got them threw my shop. it wouldnt be loan on the yukon itselfe it would be a pearsonal loan. the 11 year old thing gets to me to. im not asking if the motor will make it, im asking if it would be good in its current state with just the heads done. he has only had it for 30k miles. before that i dont know how it was treated. the truck is straight and the interior is ok. needs a good cleaning. like i said everything ive dealt with has been diesel or brand new gassers up to 40k miles. nothing beyond that. so im just kinda in the dark on what a high mileage gaser is worth and how much of a gas hog is it? i know the blue book says 4800. thanks for the quick responses.josh 

With most vortecs, you are going to have to change the fuel pump, spider injectors and intake, since the heads were already done.

5k?  sounds worth it to me if everything is as you say fuel pump and spyder injector wouldn't cost that much if you did it yourself  i have had a few chevy's with 4.3 or 5.7 vortec and 4l60e trans with over 175k miles myself, with little or no problemsi also have several customers with that powertrain package with over 200k miles and we haven't done anything more than maintenance and fuel pumps on those (plus the water pump and alternators like all chevy's)

KBB says it's worth $5,070 in excellent condition.
