i wana run my rear shocks off the head of the lower link bar bolts then the other end mounted on the notch. first i thought weld the shock stud to the head of the bolt. but then i got to thinking it would be hard to get both bolts straight after welding. and would the heat affect the grade 8? then i thought maybe turn a bolt on the lathe at work. it would be like a double sided bolt. but then i got to thinking what material would i use that would be the same as grade 8? its gona be on the lower link bolt on the rear end and its got bags on the bars so its gota be a strong bolt. any ideas would help.

real simple, goto autozone and get shock bolts.  cut the 5/8 head off, and weld that side to your whatever, the other side is a lathed, pretty, shock mount/stud

ya i got a shock stud but will the heat of the weld mess with the strength of the grade 8 bolt?

Can you just get a longer bolt and run a spacer between the outside of the link tab and the shocks to space it away from the tab?
