i have heard the a cali combo will crack in the welds due to body flex in the bed.
i am considering cutting my combo into a pan and tailgate skin before i go to welding it on there.
does anyone have some advice on what to do here?
is there a technique to the install to prevent the stress cracks at the welds?
thanks

you just have to brace it, the reason why they crack is because they are thin sheet metal, and truck bedsides are heavy double wall steel due to having an inner skin, and outerskin. Just weld some box tube braces in width, and height, to help control the movement of the bed. Ive had a smoothied rear end on my truck for 6 years, daily drivin for 3 of those, and snow drivin for 2 years. There is not a single flaw in mine to this day.
