My truck is an 04'(bagged since 05') and I have ART upper and lowers up front. Has anybody else had trouble with the upper balljoint either backing out or shearing the four bolts that hold them in? It happened again last night and this is the 3rd time in 3 years. After the second i replaced the upper b/j's with a new set of moogs and heavy duty hardware. The truck is NOT daily driven either(maybe 2k miles a year) and please dont reply with smartass comments like are they tight, ive been an auto mechanic since i was 17 and im 25 so yes i know how to install a balljoint correctly. this is my 3rd bagged ride and second with ART arms but I just dont understand how i keep shearing these damn things

i know when u lower one of those more than 5 inches  u need to flip the upper arms to correct the ball joint angles and just cause you have been a mechanic since you were 17 doesnt mean u cant screw up , noones perfect !

Sounds like the ball joint is binding and the bolts are shearing first.  Are you running a tall tires?   Solution:  Id say raise the upper arms to un-bind them

I use NAPA gold ball joints on my truck. I think they get a little bit more travel. My ball joint binds when layd out and at full lift. They have held up pretty well.

I am wondering if drop spindles would help me out before I flip them though....

I was about to ask if you had drop spindles Spindles will help all of your problems.  My truck lays on a 255-30/24 with stock arms and placements with drop spindles only.
