Hopefully Max can rain down some of his awsome wisdom for me When drilling your hubs for a new bolt pattern, how much smaller should your new stud holes be than the knurl size of the stud you are using?

From what i have read they say you want the hole to be .007 to .010 smaller than the knurl of the stud. So if i have a knurl of .625 i want the hole to be between .618 and .615 ? The only drill bit i see that is close is a 15.5mm which is .610. Is that going to be too tight of a hole for the stud to press into? Its going into cast if that will make any difference.

Has no one ever needed to drill out for a different sized stud?

I use reamers that have  .002" increments , i drill it with a 15mm, then ream it to the exact size needed. make sure the holes are flat and true, if there off a bit, it will suck.   Taylor

Thanks. How much of a difference do you do between the hole size and the knurl on the new wheel stud?
