How I spent my weekend...

Ok, I live in Brooklyn NY.  Saturday around 5pm, I took my truck out to go cruising with some friends.  As I pulled out my driveway, I am setting my music, and it was up high, but not really Disturbing the peace high... Sure enough, a cop pulls up from no where and pulls me over.  They take my License and registration and go back to the cruiser to run my info... Im sitting in my truck thinking oh well, Ill just pay the ticket... And just waiting it out...  They come up to my door and ask me to get out the Vehicle saying that I have a warrant for my arrest! At this point I am like WHAT!  I never did anything to have a warrant.  Apparently they said I failed to show up for a court date in 2005 to pay a summons.  Ok my memory isnt the greatest, but I know I take care of my business and if it was true, I went to court.  I finally do remember the situation and the outcome was that my case was dismissed.  So I try to explain, yet they arrest me anyway.  The cop then tells me that most likely they never cleared my summons in the Computer and this happens a lot.  Now here I am, a guy that trys to stay out of trouble, and who always takes care of my business, going to jail with murderers and theives.  It was the worse experience of my life. And they treat you killed a cop.  For 20 hours I felt how it feels to live like a bum.  And their were other situations in there just like me.  I stayed up in a 20x30 room of 50 people all night sitting on the nasty floor.  The cop told me dont report any medical problems or else I will be there longer.  I have a bad kidney that will be removed next month and I had it bad sitting on that nasty floor all night.  The next day I see that I am going to see a judge before everyone else... At this time I realize that they know they messed up.  The judge talks to me for less than a minute saying that the summons has been dismissed in Queens court.  I know it was dismissed 5 years ago.  I have had tickets and stopped at checkpoints between 2005 and now, and no one ever told me I have a warrant.  They make it seem like they are doing me a favor and letting me go, and has the nerve to say, if i get arrested within the next 6 months, they will also throw this charge in my face.  What if I get arrested for no reason again?  My sister is a parralegal for the DAs office and said that was an outrage... I then call my cousin who is NYPD and he couldnt beleive it.  My sister is filing a complaint for me in the mean time, but the worse part is... Not to be graphic, but I cam home peeing blood BC I wasnt able to drink as much fluids in there.  I sat in there waiting for time to pass thinking what if it was my 67 year old father who they threw in here for no reason, how could he handle this?  This was the worse experience ever.  Thought i would Vent here on SSM.

thats bullshit dude. im not a cop hater by any means, but some of those assholes need to calm down a little bit, if he said he knows that this happens a lot, he could have made a phone call to clear it all up right then, but he chose not to. sorry to hear about your luck.hope your surgery goes well

Thanks bro.. Exactly what I am saying... apparently they like to arrest bc that means no work till I go to central booking.  I was shocked to see 2 cops escort me around for 4 whole hours! Doing nothing but hanging out.  Its terrible.  It was just shameful the way they tried hiding their mistakes also.  They havent heard the last of me.

Jail is such a great experience LOL. The food sucks and they dont give you enough of it, and the metal seats and bed kill my ass and back. Bummer about your situation bro, id be pretty pissed off myself, but in reality theres probably not much they can do?I have a friend who pretty much got the same BS you did, spent the night in jail and cleared it all up the next morning free to go. 

Been there done that! I should've sued when it happened to me but a couple lawyers told me it would cost me so much money & take years to get any where so I said fuck it. I was arrested for Felon in posession of a firearm trying to reg a gun I had bought. The court reduced my crime to a misdemeanor, the police computer didn't get the change though! I was HOT! I was like dude I registered a gun in THIS sub station 6 months ago! Cocky ass cop thought he was gonna come up on my gun too. I told him dude you don't know who you're dealing with, I aint no punk thug I'll have my gun back in 30 days when this shit is cleared up! Thats how it went down too!

I hate cops like that. A badge and a gun and they make their own rules.

thats the prob with the system. we have nothing to keep them in check but they have the right to do whatever they wish and you will pay. All you can do is YES MAM and YES SIR. BULLSHIT!!!!!!

that sucks dude. at least it sounds like the truck wasnt impounded or anything, which would have been a headache on its own. hope you feel better. am i going to see you at the drastic bbq?
