ive been in the game a loooong time. NEVER have i heard canopy. i thought you meant the canopy thingys that you sit under at a show from the thread title! LOL. we are thinking of getting a topper/canopy/camper sheel for my sons extra cab nissan.   (btw: C-dog, your truck would be even more insane with some brown faced / polished lip billets!!!) 

Because Ive had a mini with a shell for a number of years, I've heard it called all three. Just depends on where the person Im talkin to is from. Camper in San Diego or just "shell" for short. Topper in Florida. Canopy up north. Its regional. No doubt about it. And thanks Spicy for posting my truck. I dont know why they cant just make posting pics like EVERY OTHER WEBSITE?

Thanks Lucky all I can say is its in the works. Wheels are pretty much the last thing I do to the tacoma. Brown painted billets are one of my options I'm looking into for sure. BTW I'm digging your ride as well..

Never heard of the canopy term either. I was thinking those softtop deals from the late 90's. Here are some shells/ campers etc......   Davids Taco      My toyota    Phil Rush Toyota    Robbies Nissan    Eric's Mazda    Erics Dually. 

They have been called camper shells or toppers since Al Gore invented the internet It seems they are making a comeback recently
