Brand new Flowmaster... Supposed to smoke bc of the paint on the body????

I just had my flowmaster put into my truck and as I was driving I smelled something burning and drove right back to the muffler shop.  The guy said thats normal, he said the paint on the flowmaster heats up and smokes, but it will go away.  Is this true or should I go crack some skulls?

as far as smoke ive never paid attention but the burnin smell yes. if it is smokin drive it down the interstate or go for a short cruz it will burn off the paint and no more burnin smell

i do exhaust for a living and we wear greasy gloves use wd 40 ALOT and all the pipe we use has oil coating just like steel stock. so yea alittle bit of burnin smell and some smoke is normal
