It seems alot of threads are or become negative.  So here is my attempt to read some cool stories about what you or someone you know has done with, too, or for a fellow mini/ any trucker/ rodder what ever!

I will start with a couple.  Personally I have not done a super special thing for someone but.  Every winter the weekend before Christmas I organize a cruise through the local neighborhoods.  We drop food off in the collection boxes, check out the light displays and it seems to be the one time when these people look forward to seeing the minis, lowriders, and rods roll through their neighborhoods.  I usually make all the fliers and have 50 or so dash plaques made to giveout just as an incentive to come roll.  I'm going on 10 years now! I do it just to hang out with everyone cause the winters seem to go on forever here.

This one is second hand.  It was last year or the year before? There is a guy named Danny up here and he owns (still) the vehicle that is the reason I like minis the most. Well it sat in his garage for quite a while due to the family deal. I hadn't seen it in along time.  Just before the Sittin Pritti show Sponge and some others went up to his place got it fired up, polished and out to the show. In the end it was featured. It was well deserved and long over due. I just saw it last weekend at their show and it made my day checking it out again.

Last one for now is a local rod shop owner had a truck in for a resto and while he was working on it the owner got sick.  He was going down hill fast so the shop owner turned to the truck club he is a part of and together they finished it in just weeks!  The owner was bed ridden at this point, so they went to his house and setup a show n shine in his neighborhood. The owner was taken out side and there was his finished ride along with a bunch more, including  those who helped build his.

I know there are tons of cool stories about people helping others.  Rides getting done for a show or the family of a minitrucker who passed.  Maybe you just saw something cool happen on your way home. Lets hear about it.

If by any chance you were a part of the stories I mentioned chime in. I'd love to hear about it first hand.

Great thread & my family & I look forward to your Christmas cruise every year BTW!

I have a buddy who is always helping me around the shop on my never ending projects. He is also ALWAYS helping everyone else out with whatever they need anytime from engine mechanics to household construction/electrical wiring. Most people almost EXPECT him to do it & rarely even pay him. Once in a while someone will bring by a case of beer, but too often he’s working on their shit for free while they stand around & drink HIS beer like its King of the Hill or something.

He’s had this 260z car project in his backyard under a tarp for years & about 3 months ago we were having a drunken conversation in the shop about how we should put him in for that Overhaulin’ TV Show. Well one thing led to another & we decided to steal it & do it ourselves. After many talks & meetings with the Pierce County Sherriff’s Dep’t, it was on…

When he was out of town, we took the car & did all the rust repair (tons), bodywork (even more), & I painted it with a nice dodge viper blue with this old “rally car” theme with the 2 offset white stripes. I even airbrushed “thanks for everything” with our names in it using the original factory orange on the fat white stripe.

The 4 of us split up & worked 24 hour shifts on it & got it done in 12 days. I know it’s not as cool as Overhaulin’, but 4 guys working out of my 2 car garage did a ton of shit in that short of a time (we did it there so he wouldn’t stop by & see it in the shop). I wish we would’ve had the time & money to do the interior, but funding is an issue for everyone, especially for only 4 guys doing a freebie with no sponsors…paint materials aren’t getting any cheaper, you know?!?

Let me tell you what an incredible feeling it is to finally give back something to someone so deserving & it was awesome to see a grown man get all choked up.

Well, enough rambling…here’s some pics…
