ways to quiet exhaust?

thats it. i am too damn old for loud exhaust. right now i have a flowmaster with turndowns. its located under the cab. when i am driving on the freeway it drones thru my truck bad. around town its not bad. to and from work isnt bad. but driving 4 hours to a show i am have a headache when i get there....

i am just trying to just find a way to shush it up on long trips.

am i screwed and have to get a different muffler or is there an old hot rodders trick to gettin it quiet.

If you take the turn down off and run exhaust pipe further back toward the rear of the truck it will quiet it down some. You could also look into some sort of baffles that you could add to quiet it down. Cheapest and easiest thing would probably just be to swap the muffler. The higher the number in flowmaster, generally the quieter they are.

I had a Magnaflow 4" round, 20" long muffler in the cab and a Magnaflow 5X16 oval muffler past the cab with a maganflow cat as well. It was dead quite and I loved it.
