2001 s-10 5 spd. tranny knowledge needed

ok, i just tore the tranny out of my 2001 s-10 5 spd. and got a look at the inside of the damn thing. its been slipping at various speeds so i bought a new flywheel, clutch kit and after looking inside it not as much liquid as i thought id find. tomorrow im going to try and get the flywheel out and replace it along with the clutch disk and pressure plate. the tranny bearing is puzzling me, how does it come off???? i searched every thread i could find and had no real luck............... i have read you pack it full of toilet paper and smack it with a socket.......... is my buddy screwing with me?? anyone elaborate?

ive had good luck packing it full of grease and the finding a bolt or piece of rod that barely fits in the hole and pounding it in

yeah you can remove the pilot bearing with grease and a piece of round stock that is tight.... or you could just go rent a pilot bearing slide hammer from a auto parts store.

When i was pulling transmissions i used the socket trick or you can also use a small chisel and smack it square so it bends like a V. then it should just fall out ...

As far as your slipping problems....

Does it pop the stick out of gear...If so... you need to have your transmission rebuilt or buy a new one...The forks on the inside are probably bad or you could have some stripped gears...

oh and the socket trick didnt entail using toilet paper....That doesnt do shit lol

maybe it as beyond bad cause when i took a hammer to it and "bitch slapped it" it just popped off, i dunno.
the tranny does not "pop" outta gear at all, it just seems to slip at speeds. i can be doing 70 and floor the gas pedal and watch the tach just shoot up as if it were in neutral. i got the trannt kit and flywheel installed and filled with fluid. tomorrow im going to try to bleed the system and get some clutch feeling.............
