if a pressure switch sticks on and the compressors dont shut off could it build up so much pressure that the valves wont open.the compressores run for like 30 nmins before i finally shut the truck down and there is tons of pressure in tank but the valves only click and nothing happens. any ideas except other than the pressure switch being bad

yes. if there could be so much pressure that the valves cannot open. i would loosen a fitting and see if i could get a slow leak enough to sloooowly drain some psi off.

i have a drain on the bottom of my tank ill loosen it a little and let some air out. really cant believe that would be the problem ive never heard of that happening but i guess leave it tome to have something happen i never heard of.lol. the pressure switch is only a day old :BASH:

has this ever happened to anyone else?

yup it can happen to me i left my york on and had about 350 psi in my tank and my 3/8 smc's would not open so i drained some air and they worked again

So is there a way to test a pressure switch to see if it's bad or a way to unstick it? This one is brand new only maybe a day old

check your pressure switch/compressor relay 1st,when they go they ether don't work at all,or won't shut off, usually seems to not work at all,but I had 1 not shut off before too.my truck use to go through a relay every 3-4 months,I always carried 2-3 spares, lol

Yeah I don't think it's a relay because I have two and they both are keeping comps on all the time. I ordered a new pressure switch I'm thinking I'm going to try there first but I still am interested to know if there is a way to check the pressure switch

To much pressure will stop a valve from working. As far as testing as long as it wired correctly it should turn the comps on and off at specified pressures. If not add a toggle switch to allow killing comps when you want to. Just a thought.
