temp is gona f ya. i had problems with fish eyes on the graphics at first and it was because of the temp. i used a propane heater to get things hot then kept some electric heaters runing. we bought a laser thermometer to let us know when the metal was warm enough 60 was the temp i got it up to

I think it is going to be to cold to paint. Also need some more blue and black, I would say 3Q min, and mix all quarts of same color together so no variations. Good luck and anything is possible if you try hard enough and are stubborn enough.

its not the air temp that matters. its the metal temp. once u put material on, the temp of the metal drops another 10-15 degrees. but, u when it gets to winter u gotta do what u gotta do... i use accelerator to help speed up cross link, and also have my material in a warm area in the shop before spraying to help compensate for the colder temps. my average lately has been 55 degrees.

I painted my Caprice in my garage. It was also my first automotive paint job. I plan on painting my wife's 37 Buick also.

i think for your first time you're biting off more than you can chew. unless the blue is damaged, keep the bottom color the way it is and only shoot the black. you can do bits and pieces and learn along the way w/o being discouraged.

the weather is going to be a big factor. you're atomizing a flamable liquid, any open flame could mean an explosion.

your compressor is way too small. even my 33 gallon was too small for the nose i shot on my friend's yaris not too long ago.

dont get me wrong. i manage a big shop and have access to 2 booths, but theyre 60 miles away from home. i do most of my work at home, but i know my limitations. the torpedo style propane heater i have is an open flame. in order to keep the garage warm enough you have to keep the doors closed. if you get enough overspray in the air you are creating a BAD situation. if you open the doors and let the overspray escape you drop the air temp too much. i wont do more than a panel or two at home now that it's cold.
i sprayed the nose and doors on my friends yaris by his house with my equiptment. it was about 30 degrees and humid. you cant cool the air enough to get the humidity out of the lines so i had water issues, poor lighting, fighting the cold, and i was trying to get it done quick and the air pressure kept dropping, creating problem number 5 or 6. in the end it came out good. its a car to sell, so it didnt have to be perfect and the defects all sanded out. the hazing from trapped humidity got "baked out" by leaving the heater on it. without the experience i would have been pulling mine and my friends hair out.

everyone has to start somewhere! .......that being said do you really want to rent a booth to TRY and paint your first car sounds like A waste of money. I think that most people learn by making mistakes and doing it the long way......so having to colorsand and rub the whole car Is great practice as well as a good way to learn. How do you learn to deal with runs, dirt, sags, fish eyes and orange peel...If you never have to deal with them? I have painted killer stuff I my garage and it comes out the same way as if I took It to work and painted it in the booth....PREP of the parts and the place is the most important thing! READ ALL cans and mixing instructions and fallow to a T! check your TEMP and buy the right Hardener for the clear as well as the right TEMP reducer! AND REMEMBER A JOB DONE RIGHT NO MATTER HOW LONG OR HOW HARD IT IS TO DO ......THE MORE PRIDE YOU WILL HAVE FOR YOUR RIDE!!!!! ASK ANYONE THAT DOES IT THEMSELVES NOTHING IS BETTER THEN SOMEONE COMPLIMENTING YOUR WORK!
