Thank you for the replies.

Here is another picture of a similar cylinder setup.. Basically what I need is something of these posted sizes (exact spec TBD), where at the press of a button it will instantly extend and when the button is released, it instantly will retract.Trying to keep this as compact and simple as possible. Small refillable bottle is all that is needed, no compressor or tanks.

Setup suggestions?

Use a spring to auto retract it. That eliminates allot of extra crap.

Whatcha gonna use it for? I used an air cylinder for my can crusher. It stays retracted. Hit the switch and it extends. When you let go of the switch it auto retracts. Took 4 valves to do this. You can see a video of it working on youtube. Just type pmillerinc in the search bar to find my page. You should be able to find it in my videos.

That (quickness and auto retract) is exactly what I'm after!

Could you draw me up a simple setup diagram?

I also eBay'd the cylinders mentioned above and it looks like there are a few that will fit the bill perfect!

Thanks guys

Ok. I have a couple of pics I could send you to kind of explain. It'll take me too long to upload these pics to here. I can post the explanation with the pics on here when I get home tonite. It probably won't be until late since I won't have time to get on the pc until all the children are in bed. If you would like to know about this now then send me an email and I can try to expain now.
