2.0 to 2.2 swap.

I have a 86 2.0 carb dawg. I also have a 91 2.2 FI dawg. Needless to say that the 2.2 is waaaaay faster. So i wanted to do a swap. I will be trying to find another donor truck for the project. My question is what would be easier, a full swap or just swap the carb set up for FI? And if a full swap would it still pass smog and what else would i need as far as electrical and fuel parts?

full swap it. since the FI is tuned for a 2.2 it will run rich in a 2.0. If the current truck with FI passes smog the other one should too if done correctly. Just swap everything including the wiring harness and gas tank and you will be good.

i'm in the middle of putting a 2.2 in a 2.0 truck. you will need the following.....

brain on pass. side kick
the engine harness
the harness from the brain to the pass. headlight
the harness from the pass. head light to the interior fuse panel (have to pull the dash for that one)
if you want the abs get the brain under the dr. seat

i did some trading and scored a complete 2.2 with tranny and front suspension and harness. then i found a 2.0 truck missing a engine.
