Okay so i have a 2007 Ford F-150 Super crew that has a 6" lift and the 5.4 engine. With the cost of fuel right now i want to do some things to increase fuel mileage.I do not want to sell the truck as it is one of my favorite trucks/tow pig plus i do not have the funds to buy something different. I'm looking at doing a air intake system, throttle body spacer, programer and maybe a cat back system if i have the extra funds. My question is what air intake system to use(was thinking Airaid dry filter one) and what programer to buy for the Fords? Thanks for the time and help.

I am by no means an expert, but I will tell you what I have found worked best for me through personal experience.

I have a 2004 F150 with the 4.6L V8 and have a Volant CAI, BBK Throttle Body, Magnaflow exhaust and an Edge Evolution programmer. I have seen remarkable improvement in horsepower and maintain about 20-21 MPG on Regular Unleaded with the programmer at Stage 1. If I go up to Stage 2 or Stage 3 on the programmer I make sure to fill up with Premium and only get about 14 MPG but a HUGE jump in HP & Torque!

The only thing left I want to do is replace the mechanical fan with two electric fans to take that load off of the engine.

I did try a throttle body spacer in the past and saw absolutely NO improvement from it whatsoever.

Hope this helps,

Put smaller tires on it or re gear to match the tires you have now. Pitching the fan will be the first thing is do.

SCT programmers are the best for fords...I got a sct, BBK throttle body, intake, MAF, exhaust. That stuff improved my mpg quite a bit, and gave me some extra power. I want to add electric fans soon.

Throttle body spacers are a waste of money, they dont do anything...

I had a 2005 f150 with a 4.6 with 22s. I had a superchips programmer a gibson cat back and a k&n replacement filter and did not see any fuel improvements. But i usually had my foot into it to, But I did see a power increase.
