Optima's are a good battery,& I ran one for a long while! What I learned: I ran a Yellow Top Start/Deep Cycle (34/78 battery type). The Red Tops are a start type battery, & there are two Yellow Tops , Start/Deep Cycle & Deep Cycle, & there is a Blue Top marine which is made to with stand the shock & vibration.Problem with a Optima is if the battery voltage gets below 10 volts (doesn't mater what your alternator out put is), you can only get back to full charge with a slow 2 amp charge!!I went with a Odyssey PC1500dt ( 34/78),this is a start ,deep cycle battery with a 7 year warranty, full replacement to 4 years, & 12 year shelf life! Better battery, better warranty , & will full charge with no problems!I ran 140 AMP alternator, two 380 pumps , Air Pilot air control ( draws current always), two amps ,electric fan, etc.Bought through West Coast Batteries,1-888-3792555,www.odysseybatteries.com :BEERCHUG:
