Questions about bed mountings

I just recently purchased a 85 Toyota truck and plan on baggin and bodying it. The only thing is I want to change the bed. Will a newer bed bolt up or am I going to have to modify the heck out of it to make it work

my dream truck! The best mini ever according to me hahaha. Do you have the bed with rails and looking to change to the 4x4 version with smooth sides or like something off a tacoma?

I have the bed with the rails and I am looking to get the smooth bed but was wondering if the bodylines will match up on the 4x4 bed

bodylines are all the same from 84-88 no matter the bed. same thing just one came with jap rails and some came with the "california" bed which doesnt have the jap rails.

Jap rails.....LOL. Sorry, that's just funny everytime I hear it.

So are the mounting points the same for the Jap to non Jap beds that is what I am really concerned about

yes the american bed mounts the exact same as the japanese one.

mine had the japanese shortbed & i swapped over to the american longbed.

if you get the longbed like i did, then you have to extend the frame a little & put the 2 piece driveshaft in it as well as the stock carrier bearing crossmember.

(mine's an 88, but 84-88 is the same) also all the bodylines match up the exact same as well...
