So I have to replace the battery in my truck for the 4th time in 6 years and I'm looking to maybe try a different brand. My truck is a 1991 Chev C1500 fullsize with the 5.7 engine it has a very mild stero and is on air. There is no problems with my charging system it just seems every year i have to replace the red top Optima. The truck does sit over the winter with a battery tender on it with the storage mode set up. I'm just not sold on Optima's right now and just wondering if I should change to a different brand name. This battery does do the starting on my truck also.

There's a lot of well deserved hype around Kinetik right now. I'd go for an HC1800 which will run you about $199 plus freight.

only problem with running a battery that you have to order and have it shipped to you, is having the issues with returning it if something goes wrong with it. it cost alot to ship, they are heavy, nobody wants to ship them because they are a lead acid battery because they cant get the fact that they are sealed and non hazardous....

I was sent a bad battery from XS power and they are making me cover the cost to return it, and nobody wants to ship it back for me because of reasons stated above.
just somthing to keep in mind.

That's crazy. I've shipped Kinetik batteries all over north america and never had a problem. It does get expensive though...since they're so heavy.

Sounds like you have other issues if youre replacing them every year. I have run Optima's for years with no issues. My dual red tops setup lasted me about 9 years and I'm on 3 for my dual yellow tops with 2000Watts and air and accessories plus starting.

If you've replaced that battery that many times in 6 years you have something setup wrong. Optimas come with a 2 year warranty so you should be covered. Kinetik won't give you anything more than 1 year. I would start looking at your electrical to see what can be upgraded. Are you sure charging on 20+ year old alternator is where it needs to be?
