Im am amazed but then again I am not at the amount of people who posted about this on their Facebook. Courtney was a very infuential person to a lot of people and you can see how many people this affected that just YOU know by the comments on the net. But it goes way beyond that I cant imagine All the people this guy has affected not just the minitruckin comunity. So lets hear your stories about this "LEGEND" in our scene and how he has affected you. I have many but I will share a few.

I first met Courtney years ago at a show in 1994 called SLAM in VA, I can remember I was new to the scene and someone told me who he was. I was like WOW thats THE guy from the MT, he was like a famous person to me lol, then I met him and couldnt believe he would even give me the time of day to talk to me. But the guy was totally cool so down to earth we talked trucks from quite a while and from there any show we saw him at we would hang out when he was out east.

Some of the funny stories would be in 1995 a show in East Stroudsberg PA jackin some golf carts with Court, Chris Schmidtt and some other boys racing around down hills people falling off drunk it was the only thing we could do to make this HORRIBLE show fun lol so many good times.....

1998 Courtney came out for Delaware and stayed at my house (parents) and covered our show for MT this was just prior to the start of STREET TRUCKS well he was out we had a lot of laughs but the best part was on Monday morning he woke me up and said "Come on Phil get up I got to go to the airport" I replied with "Is the swat team here yet?? You better be careful when they come its gonna be bad" now mind you Im dead asleep and for those of you that know me I do crazy stuff in my sleep lol. So he was laughing but a little concerned about this Swat team, but he woke me again and I had no recolection of my comments but we have laughed for years over the "SWAT TEAM" This also is how I got my start at MT because he left and didnt write our show Lance asked me to write it, then I had to cover Garden State Nats for the mag and that is how I started...

1999 Booger Bash Charolette, NC me and the LR boys were meeting up with the NC Maryland crew (Chad Gill, Paul Davis, Fred Hebron, Clint (dont know the last name lol) and Courtney with Schmidtt, Fred Green and a few others, either way we were met them at their hotel to go to dinner. While waiting for some to get ready we were all in a room goofing around then all of the sudden Court pics me up over his head and presses me against the ceiling then throws me down ( not in a sexual way lol) that was the only person who has ever picked me up over his head and threw me like a child lol.

I can go on for years with the stories from Carlisle, Pigeon Forge, Texas Heat Wave, etc etc all the shows I have hung out with this guy and its sad to know that he is gone and it leaves us all a little empty. He will be missed dearly and the amount of comments and people that didnt even know him just say a lot about him and A LOT about this community this family that we are all part of. No matter what state, what club, what logo, what shop you deal with what shows you go to we are all some sort of FAMILY. I am so glad to know him and so glad to know all of you without these trucks for most of us our paths would have never crossed...

I think one of the best memories that I remember was back at West Coast Nat's 2000 a friend and I were walking around and one of the NC/ST members (don't remember if it was a prospect or not) walked by and said some derogratory things to my friend and I while we were talking to Courtney.. (Being Sunset members we were staff)

Well Courtney asked for my flashlight (a 6cell D) and told the guy to come over there and smacked him up the head and told him to appologize.. Me myself I thought it was kind of funny and only Courtney could get away with that... After the guy apologized we went on chatting away..

I saw him a few times after that and he always said hello and of course the occasional conversations.. For a guy that was so well known he was always down to earth and I never saw him think better of himself..

He will be missed..

Pretty much the same thing with me...The first time I met him was when the Titan was the latest craze at Reso 5 or 6 years ago. Just like Fowler described I looked at him as a celebrity, then quickly found out how down to earth he was. I really wish I could have got to know him better, but I'm privilaged to have at least met him a few times.
