I would just get it done professionally. There are suitable ways to get it done at home, and make it work, but really getting something heat treated professionally is not too expensive.
I think there is a company in the burlington area, or even kitchener that is called Hitemp. They heat treat parts by the pound. I know when i used to heat treat certain parts, i gave them 50 pcs at a time, it was about 5 lbs. It only cost me about 40$ total. And that was heat treated and black oxided, now i have my own black oxide hot bath, and I dont heat treat nearly as much, but thats an option for ya!
Im quite positive they have one in that area, I know burlington does, but im nearly positive kitchener does as well.
