Are 95 and up ranger tail lights the same

I have a 98 ranger and dont like them so the newer years look like they are the exact same shape. Didnot know if it was a direct bolt up. Has anybody tried to interchange the tail lights. I was thinking of maybe 2009 10. Thanks for any help you can.

yes it should be direct bolt on... although you may have to extend wires depending on the location of the newer lights bulbs

Yes they are the same externally.. No they are not the same internally.

94-97 taillights were 3 bulb units with the turn on the bottom, middle backup and top stop

98-99 were 3 bulb tail lights with reverse on the bottom, stop in the middle and turn in the top

00 were the same shape as the 98-99 but were changed to a 2 bulb unit. reverse on bottom or stop/turn on top. However these can easily be made into a 3 bulb unit.

01 and up all are 2 bulb units now..

Is there any way to change the three bulb unit to a 2 bulb and wire the brake and turn signal together??
