gmc interior question

Ok i know there are 100 threads on painting interior but i cant find what everyone is doing on the armrests and passanger side airbag cover where its soft. i dont want it to crack right away. do i dye them?

on mine i scuffed the hell out of them then put a thin coat of fiber glass resin on it to make it have a solid foundation and it never cracked

yeah maybe ill get one from the wreckers and try it
