This Past year Sunset has lost two incredible men Big Jim a few months ago and Jake two weeks ago. Jake and Jim were friends to the point that Jim was healthy and wanted to help his friend jake go to the Doctor a few months ago Big Jim passed away in his sleep. Jake took this very hard as all of us did. Two weeks ago Jake passed away from Cancer he was only 29 but had the heart the size of the world. The reason I'm typing this is Jake did something that was unexpected. He helped a friend that was trying to sell his cover truck but as you know times are tough and things are not moving or selling as fast as they once did. So Jake offered to buy this cover truck. Jake knew he was never going to be able to drive this truck because the doctors told him he had very little time left. Jake being Jake was cool with that because he could say he now had a cover truck in his garage. Jake died never even getting to see the truck in his garage.

In Jake's passing he did something that shows how unselfish he was. Jake's wife called Gunner the guy that owned the truck and said Jake put in his will that he wanted you to have the truck back so come over and pick it up. For those of you that know Gunner he was really overcome by the gift. So what Gunner wants to do is rebuild this truck in memory of the two that were friends tell the end Big Jim and Jake. Gunner is by no means a rich man but he would like to see if there is anyone out there with skills that would help with product and time to make this truck happen to honor the memory of Big Jim and Jake.

If you care to send me some pics, my email is AML0417@yahoo.com, i'm moved by the story and would consider sponsoring paint materials and labor. I'm pretty deep into the south, down in Louisiana so depending on where the truck is you guys may have some transportation cost involved, but if you guys are interested, i would love to help.

I just wanna say that Jake was a great person, I didn't get the chance to know him as well as I should have. But his wife is a great friend of mine that I've known for 25 years in fact she's Like family to me. I heard Gunners story at Jakes service and it really hit me hard, for somebody to do what jake did goes beyond friendship, that's just being a great human being period. It was his dream to have a cover truck Gunner helped him relize that dream for that I thank Gunner. I won't lie I had to step outside for a minute to pull myself together after hearing the story from Gunner. All I can say is it's been a hard year for me personally and mini trucking first we lost Courtney unexpectedly. Id like to say one of my favorite memories of Courtney, He was man i met while working at Daves shop back when I couldent barley afford to buy myself lunch the first time I met him Courtney asks me "what do u want from the Taco shop" I replied man I don't have the money to buy anything right now, Courtney says: " I didn't ask if u had money I wanna know what U want from the Taco shop man" that is just the type of person Courtney was, a down to earth Kind hearted person. Always encouraged me to finish my truck and would tell me "that things gonna be bad ass when u guys finish it". Then there's Big Jim (whom I did not have the privlage of meeting) but hear he was a great person and a good friend of Jakes. One a heavier note Jake had just married one of my best friends somebody I've know longer than anybody besides my own mother and father, it is absolutely heart breaking that this young newly married couple never got to grow old with eachother and it breaks my heart when I think of how his wife must feel to me this is more than just a memorial build this is to honor great people who have impacted our lives. Jake also served in the military so he is a fallen Brother. I ask anybody not just in California, who can donate time, skill or supply's or anything you can to help this build would be amazing, I know times are rough With the resession and unemployment rate being so high. But I know His wife and mother in law and Family would love to see Jake memorialized in something he was so passionate about. RIP to all these great people mentioned above and I hope this story reaches even just a few people... Thankyou for your time and remember to never take anyone for granted you never know how long theyll be here... Sincerely -John Perry
