oh the old hot rod tricks we learn! this is very simple.....get a magnetic home security window switch, it will consist of a magnet and a magnetic switch....i know radio shack used to sell them for home security I'm guessing home depot and lowes would too.... now heres the trick! it can't be mounted behind metal, only glass and it can only be used to complete the ground side of a control circuit on a relay! the contacts inside the switches are very small and can't take much amperage at all.....

magnetic reed switch. just make sure you get a normally open switch. these need to be used with a relay too because they can't handle much load

www.mouserelectronics.com

buy them there all day long less than 3.00 each

part number is 507-ams-39w

they are white and come with magnet and reed switch i use double sided tape to secure them to a window, magnet has to be within 3/4 of inch to work. use them in conjuntion with a relay, or you can use them to ground out relay. hope this helps.

btw mouser has no minimum order so you can order only one, they have some badass switches to use with air ride also

When I used to work building handicap vans, VMI makes these magnetic switches that were used behind the rear quarter-panel to open the power doors and wheelchair lift.

You should be able to call a dealer and get a price, There's a good one here in Pensacola FL, R & M Mobility.

They'd work great for shaved door switches..
