'56 GMC 3/4 ton long bed clutch problem

I'm running the stock trannie (4-sp w/grannie) with a 283 (about '67) in front. Having problems with clutch arm and pivot. It had been mickeymoused with a cut down arm which doesn't work very well. Is there anyone out there with some suggestions for smooth operation? Thank you.

swing into a junkyard and get a factory setup and start over .
