Really Dan lowering yourself to talk smack to another magazine on the Internet ? .....and to start it with the line not to talk trash or anything ......but.

Come on dude don't live up to your D bag nickname that alot of truck builders call you by. You use to be a hero to alot of us photographers but a big head seems to have gotten to you. Street trucks has the best layouts and the best print quality of any truck magazine out there. I don't think your attempt at trash talk will affect that to much just go back and post on your own page

So, lets just call a spade a spade here. I think alot of magazine editors are guilty of promising covers in the heat of the moment, espcially when a new truck debuts and you want it in your book opposed to the competitors book getting it. So, if your going to come on here and call out Mulligan, own up to the fact that you and your staff do the very same stuff. Oh yeah, and whats with this "worlds best truck photographer" stuff? Everyone knows that there are tons of great photographers in the biz, Brian Mc Cormick, Courtney Hallowell, John Jackson, Chris Fesler, Travis Noack, Jason Mulligan, Johnny O, and yourself, so to pound your chest in victory over that crowd is pretty bold, boss!! I've never had a issue with you in any way, always thought you were a pretty stand up guy, but you are acting a little Steve Warnerish, and everyone in the business knows that guy was the worlds most ill informed and cockiest magazine guy that made the most empty promises of anyone I've ever dealt with. So, c'mon man, loosen up a little, make friends with your competitors, tone down the arrogance a lil bit,  you'll be alot happier guy and i'd bet it would boost magazine sales too, so think about it some.

Amen on Wes Allison being one of the best in the Biz the list of great American car/truck shooters is way to long for a hack like me to even begin to list. I really dig steve coonans work over at Rodders Journal and a all around great guy on top of that.

Everyone Dan included just needs to remember that without owners/builders we would just be shooting happy little trees or have to get a real job.

I guess Dan I am just disgruntled I was excited to meet you at gator drag and you dismissed me like I was bothering you.....you even told me you didn't have time to sign my van at the show.......but you probably don't even remember that. The only reason I called you out here was because this is Street Trucks forum and you decided to be a dick on it. I chose to submit my fullsize work to street trucks because of the layouts and print quality so I guess it is in my personal opinion.

Also in my opinion is this wasn't the place to be a dick there are already enough of those on here

I just had a good buddy of mine provide a different perspective on this topic that I had never thought of before, hence why I deleted my comments. Everyone has their opinion and everyone wants the best for what they love, which explains perhaps my over-enthusiasm.  I'm completely OK with the comments posted here and want to apologize to those of you who misinterpreted my initial question.  Truck owners know the truth and that's all that should have been said.

Arguing over the internet never ends well. But to offer up a story related to what you are talking about. I would never promise anyone a cover and not come through with it. I had setup a shoot last year and was ready, tripod in hand to start shooting. The owner did not want anything less than the cover. I knew the chances were slim because of the overall dark color and a few other elements; I could have BS'd him, shot it, ran it as a normal feature and broken my promise. But explained I couldn't guarantee it and so I didn't shoot the truck, even though my camera and tripod was in my hand ready to go, I would rather waste my time than promise something I couldn't deliver on. ps. the Toyota Chop Top is in the issue on stands right now, June 2010 issue (pictured above)

Dan I want to apolagize also because I didn't give you credit for making the magazine better than what it has been in the past. It's always tough to make everyone happy and stories get twisted if someone wasn't there to hear what was actually said.
....again Dan sorry for not giving you credit for what you have accomplished

Now we should all get back to work and stop fighting on the Internet lol

I don't want my post to be misinterprited either. I have worked with both magazines in the past and look forward to working with anyone who wants to work with me in the future, my business depends on media exposure and i know that. I want to make it clear that i would've called Mulligan or any other editor out had they come on your forum and said the same thing. I completely understand representing your given title any day of the week, I also understand the pride & competitiveness that goes into building the two greatest truck titles every month, what I don't understand is how it sometimes turns to all out negativity. I personally don't like to have to choose a side with anyone in any circumstance as there are always 3 sides to the story, yours, his, and the real truth. Now, I am by no means calling either of you liars, I think you guys just see things from a different angle as do most in a conflict, hence the word conflict. I still to this day read both titles, however do more with the guys at Streettrucks but that by no means indicates a disprespect for Dan or Truckin'. Without sounding all "after school special" or " camp counselorish" I wish you guys would open up your lines to eachother more, be more tolerant of eachother and support the truck hobby more as a whole instead of fighting over features, talking shit. For fucks sake, you guys run the two greatest truck rags ever, theres enough trucks & builders to go around, different formats to shoot them, and you both know every truck you both run could be written about from 10 different angles. So, I hope all of you think over what i'm saying and one day we can all sit around at a truck show enjoy the trucks, the stories, and a few cold beers.

We share the same philosophy and ideals and at the end of the day we all enjoy the same thing! I have lived my life, truck building, and entire editorial career this way, and ya sometimes it does bite me in the ass for being friends with ppl... but I wouldn't change it one little bit!See you soon I hope, we need to catch up, been a minute man!
