The front seat belts in my truck suck. The have never retracted properly (super dangerous by the way!), and they occasionally get slammed in the door from their flaccid return spring, and have done damage to the door jam and door card in the process. I have re-built them and re-lubricated them in hopes that it would help. Unfortunately after doing some research the seatbelt spring is of a type called "constant force". Basically, it doesn't have a rising rate like every other spring does when you twist it or pull it. It maintains the same resistance through it's entire working range. So when it gets tired like mine, it's just dead. Anybody know of or installed a set of aftermarket replacement seat belts (no mods to the mounts) they were happy with, or do I just need to take a risk on some used ones? Thanks!
