1. At times my engine doesn't drop in rpm when I've stopped at a light until I blip the throttle which may drop it, or add to it. What the hell's going on there? Because I never had that issue up until last week
Is your truck FI or carbureted? You could have either. Have you tried shutting off the engine and restarting it?
2. I've replaced every seal on here, & I'm still going through 5qts in about a week or two. Any ideas?
Maybe the rear crankshaft seal has gone bad and oil is leaking and getting slung against the bellhousing. Can yo put cardboard under the transmission to see if oil is dripping where the engine meets the transmission? If you recently replaced the clutch, maybe you didn't realize that the flywheel bolts will wick oil if you don't use a sealant on them.
3. (Going back to the replaced seals), I'm still getting plumes of white smoke coming out of what's left of my exhaust when shifting, or stopped at a light. Is my head warped?
White smoke is water. You might be able to re-torque the head gasket.
4. Why does my head irritatingly click when I first start it, & let it warm up, but then it tends to go away for the rest of the drive once I've hit 50mph?
You could have a hydralic lifter that has collapsed, or maybe the mechanical lifters need to be adjusted if someone installed them in the past.
------Now we get to brakes------
5. The most pressing issue right now is that my parking brake handle pulls way out of the slot almost reaching shifter now to park, if I attempt to pull it to it's original position, or a micrometer out of place from where it extends now it does not lock, & will roll forward. What broke, or happened to cause this, & how do I fix it?
The e-brake cable may be streached, or the rear shoes have worn so far that the cable isn't pulling the shoes against the drums anymore.
6. With reference to 5, at times even when fully extended now it still doesn't lock up so I have to get on the brake, drop the parking brake, & pull it again up to 3 times before it finally locks... This happens usually once every 8 days. Any ideas why that's happening?
Adjust the cable to remove any slack, after inspecting rear shoes for wear and clearance. They are manually adjusted through the backing plate.
7. Has anyone done an all-around FC/FD brake conversion before? If so please send me links, & info because I just serviced the rear drums, & it was a pain in the ass trying to get my adapters of to deal with an even bigger pain in the ass to work on the drums...
