A little help with a little truck

I got an 99 ford explorer(We call her Dora). Anywho's my check engine light came on this morning. Is there a way to pull the codes on these without a scan tool. You know like on the first chevys where you could short the A & B terminal to get them to flash the codes. Any help would be great.

Code scanner is the only way I know to get the codes off of an OBD-2 vehicle.

Thats what I thought but I wanted to see if anyone new a trick. Guess I'll have to go down to O'reilly's and have them hook it up. I think I'd rather cut my penis off with a dull butter knife then go talk to them but I don't feel like spending $1500 to update my snap-on scanner.

You can buy one of the cheap OBD-2 scanners for around 80 bucks I think.

No, there is an O'reilly's next door....and we already have 2 and 1 that doesnt work.

I can't imagine what could possibly be wrong it only has 198000 miles on it.

Probably an O2 sensor...
