I got a PM about my engine driven compressor, so I figured I would share.

So check this out, my compressor is out of an older volvo, I want to say an 86 but I will get the specifics from my buddy as he is the one who set me up with it. When I purchased my truck it already had the EDC but I ended up throwing a rod in it and had to replace it.

This is what mine looks like... and its dual piston... Wooohooo

I picked it up at the wrecking yard for $50. you will have to do a few things depending on your setup. If your running a v-belt no worries the one I have come standard with a v-belt setup; however, I have a serpentine belt so I had to get it modded by a machinist, also run a longer belt.

Mounting is takes a little fab work making your own brackets, mostly out of flat bar bent to perfection.

This compressor I am running is 9.1 cfm @ 3k rpm. It kicks the shit out of the viair 380 in my car as it is .9 cfm constant when the engine is running.

Here is tons of information on EDCs Look around... The website will describe a mod the will keep the oil from going into your air system as well as how to get the pully off without effing up the clutch system.

I will post some close ups of my setup tomorrow.

How are you setting up the oiling so the compressor doesn't croak?

Unless most A/C compressors that circulate the oil these actually have a reservoir for the oil. You do have to keep an eye on the oil and sometimes add a little but it is easy. There is a fill hole on either side.

I have a York 209 Big Block kit in my truck now. But pulley or pulley bearings are going out I believe cause its starting to squeak. Can order new pulley for it, but I have a brand new York 210 in my garage I think I am going to upgrade to.
