I have run on 215/70/16s for a few years, not a whole lot of miles but have towed my 27' travel trailer quite abit with my quad in the back and no problems. In the back you don't need to worry about ratings as much because there are 4 of them carrying the weight. up front with the weight of the engine and turning is more crucial. I had the front axle of my truck with the 454 in it and I believe it was around 3600-3800. My continentals had the most lb rating and the highest psi rating. They just barely covered the truck with just my self inside. Towing a trailer is a little easier on them because the tongue weight takes some off the front.

I run a 225/70/16 on mine, it's a diesel and I tow... no problemos so far

A quick little tire formula,

225/70/16:
the 225 is the width in mm divided by 25.4 is 8.85" wide

now the 70 is the sidewall height which comes from this... 70% of the width(225)
225x .70= 157.5 divide that by 25.4 and you get 6.20"(sidewall height)

now take that 6.20" multiply by 2 then add the rim size(16") to get overall height... 28.40"
