Here is a pic of my rear end setup

When I lift it to around ride height it starts to pull to one side and if I go higher it pulls about 1.5" or more. My question is will this hurt anything as long as it still fits inside my fenders? The only time it will be above ride height is to clear an obstacle then back to ride height. At ride height it is probably less than 1" off center. Will it be noticeable after I get the bed back on? I have the art bolt on airbar so that is why I went with this panhard bar setup. and I don't want to move my gas tank, I gotta have room in the bed to haul my quad. Would a longer bar help that much more? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks John

Here is a bigger pic.

A longer bar will help a ton. And mabey moving the frame mount down a hair.

i think the pan hard is long enough, i always set my panhards with the rear aired half way up and set the bar parralel to the ground, i got 15 inches of lift on my fullsize with no pull

if you notice when it goes down it will also push it to the other side the same distance it pulls when aired up..... so take that into consideration when you throw thebed back on.

but yes try moving that mount down some and that should help with theproblem quit a bit.

I had it that way and it moved too much before I think it will clear the fenders as the bar got to the level point and then would get better again as it raised higher. I am going to hopefully have the bed on this weekend and I will see what works

This is a way old thread, but as I am doing my panhard location today, I figured i'd resurrect it.

I have a 29" long panhard bar, and I know the basics, (funny I have never really installed one yet???) whenever we did a truck with a panhard my buddy would do the panhard part when we set the ride height up, and I just welded crap up. So it has to be as straight as possible at ride height, and i'm going to beef up the mounting locations...but.

SOOOOOOO...Question. I have different opinions from different people. I was going to mount it to the frame on the drivers side, and to the axle on the pass side. I am going under the assumptions related to torque there would be a benefit to mounting it this way...is this correct? Is there a difference?

With the 4link being parallel should the bar try to intersect at the middle of the rear end to help with the geometry out back? Does it matter?

I will more than likely have some mock up pics to upload tonight, so check back later and see if I did it right please.

Thx guys.

The panhard won't do anything for torque.

But it will determine your roll center. In most cases the lower the better. Being center of rearend or slightly below. You also want to be parallel to the ground at ride height. and mounting it the way you have it will load the right rear when you exit a left hand turn.

Longer the better.

15 inches of movement is alot for a panhard bar. I can't imagine you use all of that. Maybe to show how high it goes. 10-12" is a better number to hit and easier to set the panhard bar so it doesn't pull inches from down to up.

food for thought

maibe it would matter if the chassis torks around at full trottle (front wheel off the tarmac kinda tork) but i dont think a stock or near stock engine would do that
if you dont wat anny side movement you could think about a wats system

Nah, I know it won't help for torque, more cause I know the motor has lots,(and I mean lots) of torque. I don't want him to rip this thing off, but I can't splurge for a watts link, that's why I am asking all these questions to try and make this work out best I can.

Once this thing gets welded up it'll be a bitch to get it off.

I wish I had payed more attention back in the day.

So low and level, got ya, any preference on which side to mount to the frame? Or will it just load up the other side?

PS where did you get the 15" of panhard travel? I don't think i'll be going that much. I'm just doing a bag over axle with some RE7's. Fully extended i'll be lucky to get 12" at full lock.
