i would mount the cylinder as straight up and down as you could be less likely to bend . if you mount it like in that pic the load is not centeres on the cylinder

could i mount the cylinders behind the axle straight up and down are the best place is on top of the axle? ..........

yea thats kinda what i was thinkin...

but like outlaw said itd proabbyl put it more of a bind since the weight wasnt centered and would always be on the "top" side of the ram.
