Already have one Viair 450 with a Viair 165/200 pressure switch with built in relay, pumping to an 8gal. tank.

My question is, do I just splice the power wire on the second compressor, to the wire where the first compressors going.. or do I need a seperate pressure switch and relay combo to run this other compressor?

Life would be much easier if I just tied this in, as I wouldnt have to run another power wire off the battery, or the switch wire off the fuse box.. Just wanted to be 100% sure first.

Thanks

run them in series.... one switch, keep the power that the first comp. has, run the ground wire from the first comp. to the power wire of the second comp. and then ground the second comp. Kinda like running speakers. it puts less strain on the battery and switch.

You musta been beating the hell out of that poor 450. Get a 175 psi pressure switch for the pair of them, 200psi is too high for them compressors, they can't take that kind of a beating, regardless of what anyone says. They are a good compressor, but 200psi is reallly pushing them. With 2 of them 200psi is easier for them, but i'd still recommend not pushing them past 175.

You'll actually notice your fill times get shorter, as the fill is from 145-175psi...so the comrpressors won't run as hot, or long, thus saving them from a premature death.

Just my 2cents brother.

I never had an issue with the 450 (knocks wood), i'd just like a little backup "just incase." Would I be better off getting a 480, as its rated for 200psi, and still keep and run the 450? Maybe it would take some stress off the 450 this way?

Nah, get another 450, you should be fine.

Depending on how long you've had the OG 450, i'd suggest getting a rebuild kit for it. You will notice a huge difference in fill times with a rebuild kit and a new compressor.

My trucks been down for 3 years. I've had the air suspension installed for little over a year, but the compressor hasn't seen much run time... couple 0-200 fills, but mostly 165-200 fills.
