A friend of mine came across an old UHaul C&C truck while out hunting in a junkyard and called me to tell me. I had him measure it and outside edge to outside edge measured approx. 64" so it is perfect and will save me from having to narrow mine. So I call up my friend who owns the yard and he tells me $125 and I pull it and it is mine. However, he tells me the truck was a 400,000 plus mile truck and had been flooded but was unsure of how badly. I have no doubt that the housing and axles should be fine but I am worried about the rest of the internals. So I want some opinions from people who know more about these things than I do on if this would still be worth getting my hands on and taking a chance with. I was also curious if everything minus the axles would be interchangeable with the single wheel rear I have in the dually now if this other rear is damaged internally from the water. Someone please educate me so I can make a decision soon

Typically the C&C axle isn't even the same manufacturer as the regular dually and single wheel axles so I doubt you'll be able to swap any internals. If there's water in the housing then the bearings are surely shot, and the gears are probably hosed, too, they get weird little rust tracks/scaling on the faces of the teeth.

The very first thing I would do is drain it to see if there's water inside.

I got my C&C rear from a junkyard and I plan on getting it rebuilt before installing it just because. I would rebuild anything that comes out of a junkyard and the price for that C&C sounds great to me.

Have you gotten any quotes on rebuilding the rearend you have???

No, but I have already rebuilt the eng/trans. so the C&C is getting rebuilt too since I plan on going from 4.10's to 3.42's and I plan on keeping this truck.
