i have been looking at a 3/4 ton crew cab with a single wheel 1 ton axle in the back. i know you can get adapters to run dually wheels in the front, but i want to have 22.5 in the front and can't imagine that having 2 adapters is safe....also, will dually rear wheels bolt up to the rear or do i need longer studs or what?

sorry if its been discussed before.....i'm new to the dually world and wanted some info before i buy a truck i can't use.....thanks

All you need for the front is the 8x10 adapters and you can bolt on the 22s. The only problem with this is that the wheel will be sitting inside the fenders around 2-3 more than on a 1 ton suspension setup.

In the rear you can also just put the 8x10 adapters on the truck, however your wheels will also be sitting inside the fenders when you put the dually fenders on the bedside. Also you will have to clearance the framerails and move the leafsprings or install a 4 link. Another problem is that the 3/4 ton SRW truck have a large brake drum and if you are putting normal dually wheels on it they bust me 18" or bigger.

We are about 1 1/2 hours down the road from Nashville down I-24 if you ever need any help or parts.

thats what i thought on the front.....i don't want to have them "sunk in" like that.....what are my options? can i find a 1 ton truck and get the parts off of it? and what do i need to get? hub and spindle and lower control arm?

i plan on a body drop so the rear shold be fine right? will i have to extend the outer finders with a single rear wheel axel? or i that what you mean by "sitting inside the fenders when you put the dually fenders on the bedside"

thanks for the info....

I had to switch to 3/4 ton spindles in front and run a spacer...

If you are bodydropping I dont believe the 1 ton spindle will work because your lugs will hit the fenders...

HOWEVER, I have custom upper and lower control arms, so it may be different for you, I know every setup is a little different...

how big of a spacer?

dward if your gunna body drop the beast your gunna need those 3/4 ton hubs then buy or build a arms that put the wheel a bit farther out. Otherwise your wheels will hit the frame when you turn on the inside.

If you keep the 3/4 hubs in the front then you will need to lengthen your control arms around 1/2-3/4" to push the wheels outwards toward the fenders.

In the rear if you use the SRW rearend and put dually fenders on it the wheels will be father inside the fenders than normal dually trucks. It wont be alot but it will be in the neighborhood of 2-3" between the outer dually wheel and the inside of the dually fender.

Also when running spacers with the adapters, I would suggest not going any bigger than a 7/16" spacer to keep from streching the lug studs on the 8 lug pattern.

thanks for the info guys....

i should have said it before, but its a square crew cab and i want to lay body on 22.5's...that being said would it be better to buy arms that push the wheels out a little or get 1 ton arms and shorten them like bdydrppup did?

like i said...i'm still looking at it and just doing some homework so i know what to expect...i gotta sell the lincolns first

about the rear....wheels fitting farther inside the rear fenders is a good thing right?....that means you don't have to extend them. or will it look stupid so far in?

lock... the guy says the rear end is a single wheel 1 ton...is there such a thing? and will i have to have a 18" or bigger on a single wheel 1 ton rear end

There are many types of SRW 1ton trucks. On the SRW rearend the SRW wheels can be a 16" but if you are putting a DRW wheel on a SRW rearend you will need a 18" or bigger dual wheel due to the offset of the wheels.

Hope that makes sense.

yeah that makes sense.....

will i need to take a couple inches out of the rear fender to make it not look stupid with the wheels so far far in the back?
